AFM Safecoat Hard Seal was recently tested for its effectiveness in reducing formaldehyde offgassing. The study involved MDF board with 3 coats of Hard Seal applied to the surface. The control board was left untreated. After 7 days of drying and curing, the boards were measured for formaldehyde offgassing. The control board measured 1.414 mg/L of formaldehyde, which is considered a very high reading. The Hard Seal treated board measured .053 mg/l, which is considered an extremely low reading. The Hard Seal reduced the formaldehyde offgassing by a whopping 96% in the experiment. The experiment was conducted using proper scientific protocols and instruments.
